Borgo Giuliano
Borgo Giuliano is a ghost village in the territory of San Teodoro, an Italian comune in the metropolitan city of Messina, Sicily.
Designed by the architect Guido Baratta, it was built in 1940 (or 1938, according to other sources) by the Agency for the Colonisation of the Sicilian Latifundium under the Serpieri and Tassinari laws, which aimed to break up large estates and support the farming population. It was named after Salvatore Giuliano, a soldier killed in Abyssinia.
The village was inaugurated in December 1940 by the agriculture minister Giuseppe Tassinari. Like the others built in the same period, it had a church, a school, a post office, a carabinieri station and other facilities for the farmers.
