Abandoned village
Cavagliano (Prato)
Cavagliano is an isolated frazione of the comune of Prato, at 479 metres above sea level on the slopes of the southern Calvana mountains. The hamlet, of medieval origin, has been completely abandoned in recent decades.
The remains of the village survive, with the ruins of several medieval stone buildings, including the Palazzina Ginori, as well as the church of San Biagio a Cavagliano and the chapel of the Cavagliano cemetery.
It can be reached along the via di Cavagliano, which links Filettole to Travalle and has largely become a footpath.
On the slopes between the locality of I Bifolchi and Cavagliano stands, on its own, the small church of Cavagliano, dating back to the 1200s.
