Fiume

Province of Teramo, AbruzzoAccess not verified

Fiume is a frazione of the comune of Rocca Santa Maria, in the province of Teramo.

The village lies in the Monti della Laga, inside the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, 3 kilometres from Rocca Santa Maria.

Its name ("river") comes from its position on the river Tordino, which runs through the locality.

The village belonged to the old Agrarian University of Rocca Santa Maria, together with the hamlets and lands of Fustagnano-Imposte, Martesi-Belvedere, Colle Cesetta, Tavolero-Force, Canili, Ciarelli-Sella Ciarelli-Coltrosino, Paranesi, Licciano, Alvelli, Cesa, Tevere, Castiglione, Riano, Forno and Fioli.

Today the village is completely uninhabited, although in summer some people come back to their birthplace for a holiday.
