Abandoned village

Reneuzzi

Province of Alessandria, PiedmontAccess not verified

Renèuzzi, sometimes called Renèuzi, Renèusi, Reneuzzi, Renéisci or Renéusci in Genoese (pronounced Renösci, IPA [re'nøʃi]), is an uninhabited frazione of the comune of Carrega Ligure, now in the province of Alessandria. It lies in the upper Val Borbera, at 1,075 m on the north side of Monte Antola, in the Campassi valley. The village was abandoned in 1961. It still has the Oratory of San Bernardo Abate, whose bell tower has been removed.

No road reaches it: an old mule track links it to the hamlets of Campassi and Vegni, and a trail leads up to the summit of Monte Antola, the mountain of the Genoese.
